First
Presbyterian offers a wide variety of ministry opportunities in
which members are encouraged to become involved. If you are a member
and looking for your own special place of ministry within this
congregation, consider one of the following. To put your talents to
good use and join one of these teams, contact the church office.
Greeters
Greeters
greet visitors and members before and after the 8:45 AM service,
before Sunday School, and before the 11:00 AM service. They help visitors locate appropriate Sunday School Classes and the
nurseries, if needed.
Ushers
Ushers are a vital part
of our worship service. They assist in greeting, distributing worship
bulletins, assisting visitors, and collecting the offering. They
should also be prepared to handle any emergency or unforeseen
situation that may arise.
Vestibule Teams
Vestibule team members
extend the right hand of fellowship to everyone as members of the
congregation leave the sanctuary following the morning service.
TV
Team
TV team
members assist in the live broadcast of our 11:00 AM worship service each
Sunday morning. Camera operators, soundboard operators, and broadcast
supervisors are needed each week. Training is provided.
Homebound Communion
In accordance with the
Book of Order, communion opportunities are announced in the bulletin
for two weeks prior to Communion Sunday. Those who are home- or
hospital-bound do not have to miss out on this important part of
worship. An Elder goes with a minister, or two ministers go together,
to take communion to those who are unable to attend church services.
Nursery Assistants
Nursery Assistants assist
the paid nursery staff in providing quality childcare in a loving
environment while parents and family attend Sunday School and worship
service. A team of four parents coordinates needs with the Nursery
Supervisor, recruiting extra help when needed. Parents and others are
asked to help in the nurseries about once a quarter.
Stephen Ministers
Stephen Ministry is a
nationwide program that we are pleased to offer at First Presbyterian
Church. Additional information is available
here.
