Ecclesiastes
Sundays January 8, 15 & 22
Taught by: Dee
Potts
In past
years, Dee Potts has served as a devotional writer for Methodist Upper Room and for Baptist Home Life and Open Windows, a curriculum writer for Baptist Adult Sunday School Board material, and a regular writer for The Pastoral Forum, a publication of The Pastoral Institute. She has been a frequent contributor for the Columbus Magazine since its beginning in 1992 and held a regular column, “Elbow Room,” in this publication from 1998 through 2006. Dee has also served as a Group Leader, working as facilitator for several different Women’s/Ministers’ Wives growth/study groups at The Pastoral Institute, at The Counseling and Enrichment Center, and in her home. With her husband, Bob, she led Marriage Enrichment groups and retreats throughout his pastoral years. She also taught adult women’s Bible classes in from 1958 until 1995 and taught Junior High social studies and journalism in Corpus Christi, Texas, public schools during 1954 and 1955 and in the Fort Worth Public Schools from 1955 to 1957.
Description: “What is this all about?” So asks the author of Ecclesiastes. Dee Potts remembers well this advice at a clergy/clergy spouse retreat. “When you are down, read Ecclesiastes.” This book may jar some people and for others it fits right in with January doldrums. However, with fresh eyes of faith these words can compel us to live with greater assurance in our discipleship.
