**The response to the Stained Glass Window Restoration Project has been overwhelming. As of February 2017, only four (4) windows are still available for naming. They are the four windows located the towers and each have a repair cost of $28,000. If you would like to claim one of these windows, please contact Suzanne McCary, smccary [at] columbusfpc [dot] org as soon as possible. Thank you for your support of this important project.**
Phase I of the restoration and repair of our stained glass windows began on Monday, August 8, 2016. The windows date from the rebuilding of the sanctuary after a fire in the 1890s. Some minor attention has been given to the windows from time to time – but after almost 125 years, it is necessary to address repairs on a longer term basis.
Lynchburg Stained Glass has been contracted to conduct this renovation project. They are a highly respected firm and come with excellent references. The windows will be removed and repaired before they are returned. During the removal time, adequate and appropriate coverings will temporarily replace the current windows. Also, signs have been placed near the sanctuary to inform passersby of the renovation.
The work will take place in three phases. The first windows to be removed and repaired are those facing First Avenue. The second phase will be along Eleventh Street and the ones facing the north parking lot will be in the final phase.
