From
the Senior Pastor ...
In our text
for this Sunday, Luke 13:1-9, Jesus is approached with
the shocking news of Galilean worshippers who were
killed by Pilate's soldiers while they made offerings at
the temple. Why were they killed? Were they being
punished for their sins? Does God care? Why do bad
things happen to good people? Or do bad things only
happen to bad people?
All of these
questions swirl in their minds and ours as well. Jesus
answers these questions in a convicting and comforting
way, "Repent or perish." Come this Sunday to hear the
truth and consequences of a repentant life.
Our Global
Mission Conference last weekend was a tremendous success
with over 160 people in attendance and current
contributions of $24,083 toward our $42,000 Witness
Season goal. Dr. Ken Bailey blessed us with his
knowledge and insight each time he spoke. Thank you to
all who worked so diligently to make the conference such
a positive experience.
In the Peace of His Grace,
For we are God's fellow workers;
you are God's field, you are God's
building.

Mission
Statement
Our mission
is to be
an open, caring community of Christian cross-bearers who
joyfully enter the gates of the Sanctuary to worship the
Triune God; who go back out into the world equipped for
service in the name of Jesus Christ; whose hearts and
minds are always open to the presence of the Spirit of
the Risen Lord; whose doors are open to those who knock.

First
Presbyterian –
A
church with staying power.
Seventeen decades in the heart of Columbus –
Staying
–
through war, disease,
crisis within and beyond
Staying
–
reformed yet welcoming,
traditional yet alert,
resourceful yet dependent
upon God’s staying power.
Staying
–
busy yet purposeful,
community-minded,
proud yet responsible.
Staying
–
to
serve the new Columbus –
diverse, mobile, international.
Staying
–
to
hear God’s call afresh
for our 18th decade and beyond.
First Presbyterian – staying power
In
Christ
Out of the past
Into the future
Through the Spirit.
