Spiritual Disciplines and Advent
Sundays November 20, 27, December 4, 11
Taught By: Julie Micheli
*Julie Micheli recently became the Director of the Presbyterian Campus Ministry at Georgia South Western University. She is currently undertaking the challenging theological task of keeping up with her two-year old son, Sawyer, as well as supporting her husband Jason in his ministry as campus minister at the Abbey Fellowship. Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Whitworth University, a Master of Arts in Christian Education and a Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Description: Often we can become overwhelmed by the frantic pace of the holiday season and lose sight of the true meaning of Advent. In this class we will explore some of the classic spiritual disciplines, such as silence, solitude, meditation, worship and simplicity, and how those practices can help us become more centered during the Advent season. We will also explore how to use an advent wreath at home in an individual or family devotional practice, and you will be provided with a helpful take-home resource on this practice.
